Wilfried N’Sondé : Le Coeur des Enfants Léopards

Le Prix des cinq continents de la Francophonie 2007 a été attribué à Wilfried N’Sondé pour son premier roman Le cœur des enfants léopards (Éditions Actes Sud) par le Jury réuni à Paris le 26 septembre au siège de l’Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).

Wilfried N’Sondé, 30 ans, est né au Congo. Il passe son enfance et grandit en région parisienne avant de migrer vers Berlin. Installé dans la capitale allemande, il devient un musicien et compositeur reconnu de la scène berlinoise. En 2007, il publie Le cœur des enfants léopards, l’histoire d’un jeune amoureux éconduit qui commet l’irréparable. Dans un style poétique et percutant, Wilfried N’Sondé nous livre son premier roman qu’il définit comme « un slogan : un cri de rage et d’amour ».

Le Prix sera remis officiellement au lauréat au Palais des Académies à Bruxelles (Belgique), dans le cadre de la Fureur de Lire, le 18 octobre 2007 par Clément Duhaime, administrateur de l’OIF en présence, de Marie-Dominique Simonet, vice-présidente du Gouvernement de la Communauté française de Belgique et ministre des Relations internationales et de Fadila Laanan, ministre de la Culture et de l’Audiovisuel de la Communauté française de Belgique.

Hallain Paluku : Rugbill

Pour fêter le mondial du Rugby qui se tient en France, l'album RUGBILL illustré par Hallain Paluku est sorti en librairie depuis le 12 septembre 2007.

Résumé :

Dans le petit village de Quinté, le Sud-Ouest, on joue au Rugby et ce n’est pas discutable. L’honneur du village est en jeu et l’Entente Sportive est le rassemblement des héros, ceux dont les générations futures parleront pendant des éons... à l’heure de l’apéro...
L’E.S. Quinté est composé d’une bande de bras cassés emmenée par Rugbill, notre héros et capitaine de l’équipe, Bourrepif, le plus costaud de l’équipe et pas forcément le plus malin, Brizedent, Charpentier, Féroz, Bechigue...
On trouve aussi à Quinté Pakita, la jeune supportrice de l’E.S. Quinté, quand ce n’est pas elle qui se jette la première dans la mêlée, l’entraîneur André Licat (dit Dédé) qui est aussi le patron du bar du village le Café de la Paix, sa femme Ginette, l’arbitre à jamais partial et le père Fourasse, le kiné de l’équipe.
Ensemble, ils vont vivre de grandes aventures et pas mal de troisièmes mi-temps...

Michèle Magema

La Princesse Marilyn Douala Manga Bell, présidente de doual’art a le plaisir de vous annoncer l’exposition "Overseas Stories" de Michèle Magema, actuellement en résidence à Douala. Cette exposition aura lieu du vendredi 07 septembre au lundi 08 octobre 2007 à l’Espace doual’art.

Michèle Magema est née en 1977 à Kinshasa, en République Démocratique du Congo. En 1984, elle aménage avec sa famille en France, où son père, réfugié politique, s’expatrie. De 1997 à 2002, elle est élève à l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’arts de Paris - Cergy, d’où elle sort avec un diplôme national supérieur d’expression plastique.

Elle est sélectionnée en 2003 à la Biennale Photographique de Bamako, puis en 2004 à la Biennale de Dakar, dont elle remporte le 1er prix. Son travail est montré de 2004 à 2007, à Düsseldorf, Londres, Paris et Tokyo dans l’exposition Africa Remix. En 2006, Michèle Magema est sélectionnée à la Biennale de la Havane.

Par la photographie, la vidéo et l’installation, Michèle Magema aime à interroger la mémoire et l’histoire, et particulièrement celles des peuples noirs et des minorités immigrées en Occident. Héritière de deux cultures, elle cherche à mettre en évidence des singularités culturelles et certaines réalités politiques contemporaines en n’hésitant pas à se mettre personnellement en scène. Le travail de cette artiste, quoiqu’empreint d’une intime féminité, touche et peut-être même dérange par sa portée sociale et politique.

La mise en oeuvre d’une production visuelle sur la migration de l'homme sud (l'Afrique), ses projections et ses espoirs tournés vers le nord (l'Europe).

Faire état des efforts et des conséquences qu’impliquent l’intégration, l’assimilation. Mais également évoquer le rejet du nord, qui pousse systématiquement à reposer le regard vers le sud.

Champeta is the riotous Afro-Colombian street sound of Colombia's Caribbean coast – a powder-keg of rhythms from local slave descendents brewed together with Congolese soukous, Ghanaian highlife, and Nigerian Afro-beat. Three years in the making Voodoo Love Inna Champeta Land finds Colombian champeta stars Viviano Torres, Luis Towers and Justo Valdez jamming with African legends Dally Kimoko, Diblo Dibala, Sékou Diabaté, Nyboma and Rigo Star, bringing Afro-Colombian grooves back home to African soil. Afro-Latin rhythms have never sounded like this before...

In 2003, Lucas Silva ‘Champeta-Man Original' – a well-known figurehead of Afro-Colombian music – brought some of the great talents of Afro-Colombian music from the Caribbean coast, alongside their African brothers. Bopol Mansiamina, a Congolese guitarist and arranger, and the Cameroonian drummer Guy Bilong travelled to Cartagena, to work with the three Afro-Colombian singers, Justo Valdez, Viviano Torres and Luis Towers. Voodoo Love Inna Champeta Land is the product of their talent and hard work that continued in Bogotá and Paris, with other well-known talents from the Congo, Guinea, Angola and Cameroon.

Part of the Valdez family – a musical dynasty from Palenque – Justo Valdez was the founder of Son Palenque, a legendary group of Palenquero and Afro-Caribbean musicians. Viviano Torres was the founder of the group Anne Swing and during his career he has recorded several pioneering Champeta works. Valdez and Torres – and the third lead singer of the group, Luis Towers – all grew up in Colombia listening to the music of the Congo, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ghana, the Haitian compás, calypso and soca. It is these influences that they fuse with their own cultural background and musical heritage to create this dynamic and breathtaking sound.

Voodoo Love Inna Champeta Land fuses the energetic sounds of Colombia 's Caribbean coast with some of the greatest guitarists of Africa, including Diblo Dibala, Caien Madoka, Dally Kimoko and Rigo Star. A star soukous guitarist, Dally Kimoko has recorded hundreds of albums in Paris, after moving there at the age of 26 from Kinshasa. The legendary guitarist Sékou ‘Diamond Fingers' Diabaté, founder of Bembeya Jazz, also took part in this musical adventure and features on ‘Kumina'.

This album also features the sonorous voice of Nyboma – who travelled with Kimoko to Paris – who is best-known for his work with the Kékélé Orchestra. He shines as a special guest on ‘Mama Africa', ‘Jaloux Jaloux' and ‘Tus Huellas'. Bopol Mansiamina, who originally became famous with his group Les Quatres Etoiles, is also known for his countless other productions, many of which are among the best-loved African hits in Colombia.

Introducing a fantastic new orchestra, Voodoo Love Inna Champeta Land is a journey through the rhythms of Afro-Colombia and Africa. From cumbia to soukous, chalupa to Afro-beat, the lumbalú (funerary song) of Palenque to the Sowetan rhythm or South African mbaqanga, the dialogue between drums, guitars and voices could go on for ever.

Nappées d'influences soul, afro beat, chanson et hip hop, Hotel Impala, le premier album solo de Baloji témoigne d'un ton inspiré et nouveau. Véritable bande originale d'une vie épique, Baloji nous emmène depuis les récits de sa prime enfance au Congo à ceux de son existence en Belgique au sein d'une famille d'adoption. Balo' pose un regard afropéen, quelque chose comme un refus de juger son pays et ses parents dès lors qu'il ignore beaucoup d'eux. Ces histoires poignantes sur un flow tendu font de cet album une perle rare dont on ne sort pas indemne.

Zap Mama Supermoon

The Concord Music Group, a leader in contemporary jazz and world music recording, today announced the signing of an exclusive deal with Zap Mama, the Grammy-nominated Belgian vocalist and performer whose debut recording on the label, Supermoon , is scheduled for release on September 3, 2007.

Born in the Congo, but raised in Belgium, Zap Mama – also known as Marie Daulne – has spent her career criss-crossing continents and winning the hearts of thousands of fans, while introducing her musical heritage to the world and uniting musical cultures through the wonders of voice, music and dynamic performance.

Supermoon is an engaging blend of world, soul, pop, jazz and other subtle shades too numerous to mention, with guest musicians from around the globe: drummer Tony Allen; bassists Meshell Ndegeocello and Will Lee; guitarists David Gilmore and Michael Franti; pianists Leon Pendarvis, Daniel Freiberg and Robbie Kondor; percussionist Bashiri Johnson and many more. The album is perhaps Zap Mama’s most emotionally honest and intimate recording in her fifteen-year discography.
